

Head Coach: Melissa Freehill Coach Murtagh swam at Coach Tyler began his swimming career in Middletown at the age of 10. He participated on both the Club Team and High School Team. Tyler’s spotlight strokes were butterfly and freestyle. He excelled in sprint events. Coach Tyler was a State Meet qualifier in 2011. Swimming honors include; Scholar Athlete Award, State Award, School Record Holder, HS MVP 2011 and Shoprite Athlete of the month, January 2011. Tyler enjoys coaching because it challenges him. He also enjoys passing on his experience and knowledge to MVA swimmers. Coach Tyler coaches our Torpedo Ray I Program. Coach: Christopher Morgan
Coach Mel began her swimming career in Middletown, NY in 1992. As a swimmer she excelled in sprint Freestyle and Breaststroke events. In 1999, while attending college, she began her Coaching career. Coach Mel has trained swimmers of every age and level. She also has an extensive Swim Lesson background. Coach Mel holds a level 3 certification from ASCA (American Swim Coaches Association) and she has been a Metropolitan Eastern Zone Coach for the past 2 consecutive years. Coach Mel is entering her 12th year of Coaching USA Swimming and her 3rd season with Minisink Valley Aquatics. She is excited to have to opportunity to work with so many talented and dedicated athletes. Coach Mel coaches our Devil Rays and Senior Group Programs.

Coach Lauren joined the Varsity Swim Team her freshman year of High School at Minisink Valley and continued swimming through her senior year. Coach Lauren competed in many events but her focus was on the freestyle events, ranging from the 50 to 500 freestyle. Lauren started her Coaching career with the Minisink Valley Aquatics, Junior Ray program in 2009. In the Junior Ray program, Coach Lauren assisted Coach Morgan in creating a productive atmosphere for our newest swimmers. After an outstanding year with the Junior Ray program, Lauren was promoted to Electric Ray where she has flourished while in charge of our youngest competitive swimmers. Coach Lauren is enthusiastic and has become a great asset to the MVA family. Coach Lauren coaches our Electric Ray Program.
Coach Morgan started swimming when he was a 7th grader at Warwick High School, competing in the 50 and 500 yd free. As a 10th grader Coach Morgan started diving and continued to do so for the rest of his high school career. After school, Coach Morgan went in to the army where he traveled to other countries. He was proud to service during the Gulf War for 9 months. When he got back from the war, Coach Morgan started to have an interest in Aquatics. Coach Morgan began Lifeguarding, Teaching and working various other jobs in Aquatics for 5 years before being named Aquatics Director at the YMCA. The YMCA served as a base for the Swim Lesson knowledge Coach Morgan posses. As a WSI, he left the YMCA to run the Warwick School Districts Learn-to-Swim Program. Coach Morgan loves teaching swimming to kids. His favorite part is watching a child's Eyes get big when they see that they CAN do it. Coach Morgan coaches our Junior Ray Program.
Coach: Arthur Brownsey
Minisink Valley Aquatics gave Arthur Brownsey his start in swimming in Spring of 2009. He began swimming to be with his friends but quickly realized his admiration for the sport. Winter 2009 was Coach Arthur’s first year as a High School swimmer in Minisink Valley. The focal point of his career was the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events. Arthurs swimming awards range from School Record breaker to State Meet awards. Arthur is drawn to swimming because of his deep love for the sport, he is drawn to coaching because he feels it is important to have appropriate mentors for younger swimmers. Coach Arthur works with our Junior Ray Program.
